OWENS CORNING 703 RIGID FIBERGLASS BOARD
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Owens Corning 703 Fiberglass board is made up of inorganic glass fibers that are layered into sheet form and bound with a thermosetting resin binder. This binder allows the board to be rigid and maintain its shape while still remaining lightweight. 703 Fiberglass board has a product density of 3 pcf (lbs/cf) which is preferred in both the HVAC and Acoustic industries.
DATASHEET:
ACOUSTICAL USE:
Owens Corning 703 Fiberglass board is used in numerous acoustical insulation applications. At a 2 inch board thickness, Owens Corning 703 boasts an NRC of 1.00 (Noise Reduction Coefficient) and is extremely effective at absorbing mid to high sound frequencies. When placed around loud machinery, musical instruments, and other airborne noise sources, Owens Corning 703 fiberglass board greatly reduces sound transmission.
Areas of Use for Acoustics:
- Theaters / Home Theater Rooms
- Mechanical Rooms / Pump Rooms
- Churches
- Gymnasiums
- Music Studios, Vocal Booths, Recording Rooms, etc.
ACOUSTIC PANELS:
In the music industry, Owens Corning 703 is used as the core insulation absorber for acoustic wall and ceiling panels. These acoustic panels are usually made with wood/metal frames around the fiberglass board and wrapped with acoustical transparent cloth. The sound panels are then hung on the walls and ceilings of the room to absorb unwanted sound reflections. Thicker fiberglass panels may be placed in the corners of the room to absorb lower sound frequencies (bass).
Acoustic Panel Accessory Items:
- Guilford of Maine Acoustic Fabrics
- MetroFlex NO-FRAME Edge Coating
- MetroFlex Acoustic Fasteners
HVAC USE:
Owens Corning 703 Fiberglass board was designed primarily as an inexpensive and highly effective way to insulate heating and cooling air ducts. The glass fibers can withstand operating temperatures of 0ºF up to 450ºF which creates a wide arrange of HVAC duct applications. The rigidity of the board helps resist mechanical abuse and retains its structural integrity offering a crisp finished appearance.
INTERIOR DUCTWORK:
ASJ MAX Jacketing is a reinforced white paper vapor barrier which is used for interior ductwork and matches other mechanical pipe insulation. ASJ MAX jacket provides a bright and neat appearance and can easily be wiped clean with a damp cloth. The top polymer coating on the ASJ MAX jacket helps resist water and does not yellow or stain like older version of ASJ. ASJ MAX is also 80% tougher than the standard All-Service Jacketing (ASJ).
EXTERIOR DUCTWORK:
FRK Jacketing is a reinforced foil facing which is used primarily on exterior and rooftop ductwork as a vapor barrier. The FRK jacketing allows easy adhesion for exterior weather barrier cladding systems such as Ideal Seal 777, Flex Clad, or VentureClad.
